My Story
Easter 2022.
What was meant to be a restful holiday in Wales turned into two weeks recovering from Covid. I went back to work never truly feeling rested - a state that had become all too familiar, even after time off.
Frustrated at having “wasted” two precious weeks of annual leave, I asked my manager for a sabbatical. It was approved within days… but it still took me nearly six months to take it.
Why? Because it never felt like the right time. There was always another meeting, another deadline, another reason to keep pushing through. Sound familiar?
When I finally did step away, I spent a month in Peru. It was magical, grounding and transformative - the kind of experience that makes you promise yourself you’ll never go back to living the way you did before.
And yet, within weeks of returning to my corporate role, the overwhelm crept back in. The endless workload, the constant “on” feeling, the pressure to keep up. It all returned as if I had never left.
By the summer of 2023, I hit a wall many of us know all too well… burnout.
I started the season on a high, attending an amazing yoga retreat in Greece. But within weeks of coming home, I was juggling major work changes, relentless demands and the shock of my mum’s breast cancer diagnosis. I was busy organising our annual Leadership two-day work event and as soon as it ended drove from London to a wellness festival in Wales. But by the time I arrived, I was so run down I became sick, powering through the 3 day event with over the counter meds.
And then came the emotional breakdown.
It was my wake-up call. I couldn’t keep going. I had to look honestly at my life and ask what was truly important.
I’d been visualising my “ideal life” for years - attending wellness events, retreats, and workshops that had given me so much, yet ignoring the bigger truth. I couldn’t keep people-pleasing, being there for everyone but myself, and pretending the warning signs weren’t there: heart palpitations, anxiety, fatigue, guilt, the constant pressure to be everything to everyone.
I reached my tipping point. I made the brave decision to walk away from my 25-year corporate career.
It wasn’t easy. My identity had been built on being capable, reliable, and always available - but I knew something had to change. The risk I’d been avoiding for so long had become not just an option, but a necessity.
From that moment, I began taking small, deliberate steps towards the life I truly wanted. I became self-employed as a Virtual Assistant, enjoying the freedom to manage my own time, work from anywhere, and reclaim my health. I could go to a yoga class at midday, take a walk without rushing back to my laptop, and finally feel present in my own life.
But something else happened in that transition… I realised I wasn’t alone.
So many people I spoke to - colleagues, friends, clients - were living the same story: successful on the outside, yet exhausted, stressed, and disconnected from what really mattered.
That’s when I felt the pull to do something more.
I wanted to help people the way I wished someone had helped me, to guide them in breaking free from burnout, finding balance and creating a healthy, sustainable life they actually enjoy.
I spent a year training as a holistic health and wellness coach and Wild Souls was born.
Today, I work with midlife professionals who feel stuck, stretched thin, or simply ready for change. Through personalised coaching, I help them reconnect with their values, prioritise their health, and build routines that fit into real life - not fight against it.
Because life is too short to just cope.
You deserve to feel energised, balanced, and free to live in a way that feels truly yours.
If any part of my story resonates with you, I’d love to hear yours.
